STATEMENT:

The intention of "Wood for this fire" is not to describe traditions, but to explore how they sustain family and social bonds, especially among women. The film seeks new ways of looking at the contemporary rural world: not as a relic, but as a living space where tradition and postmodernity continue to negotiate their meaning.

SINOPSIS:

A mosaic of stories takes the viewer on a journey to discover the motivations that justify the persistence of traditional rites and ancient knowledge.
Delving into the postmodern rural world, one will discover how the preservation of rituals is driven not only by a conservative desire to protect their ethnographic value but also by a necessity rooted in the everyday intimacy of relationships.
A ruined wood-fired oven spells the death sentence for the preparation of a traditional recipe, but a small group of women will fight to achieve a pardon. A daughter questions the family legacy of being a straw hat weaver, while a village strengthens itself as a community thanks to the touristic interest sparked by its carnival celebration.
The assimilation of postmodernity presents challenges that any inhabitant of the world must face.
