MORE THAN PUBLIC AFFAIRS
THE FIRST DOCUMENTARY ON LOBBING IN SPAIN
DETAILS
LOGLINE:
STATEMENT:
Celia de Coca addresses for the first time in Spain the activity of lobbying and public affairs, a field as influential as it is unknown to citizens. The documentary does not limit itself to explaining a political practice: it investigates who builds the bridges between civil society and lawmakers, revealing the tensions between transparency, private interests, and democratic participation. With an author-driven gaze, de Coca proposes a journey that combines testimonies from institutions, companies, and rural communities, opening an urgent debate on how ideas are negotiated in an increasingly regulated society.
SINOPSIS:
“More tan public affairs” is the first documentary in Spain to delve into the activity of lobbying and public affairs, a practice as influential as it is unknown to most people. Through the voices of representatives of the European Parliament, major corporations such as Telefónica, Coca-Cola, and Philip Morris, fishermen’s and farmers’ associations, and social entities like the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and the Spanish Association Against Cancer, the film reveals how bridges are built between citizens and lawmakers. With a critical and author-driven gaze, Celia de Coca portrays an ecosystem where private interests, collective causes, and the need for a more participatory democracy coexist, raising a central question: what role do public affairs play in the society we want to build?
