SINOPSIS
What appears to be a study of the everyday life of three women, filled with familiar gestures in a warm domestic setting, turns into a quiet drama of absence and the need for continuity.
Every spoken word takes on an almost premonitory meaning. How does the course of time change when we decide to cut the thread?
STATEMENT
The death of a 90-year-old mother has been told many times, but Hanging by a Thread observes the relationship between her and her daughters as they gather to sew. Subtle family conflicts erupt with her sudden death, and every ordinary word reveals a premonitory meaning. The film explores how words stitch time, like a sewing machine, and how that gesture connects with cinema as a creator of time.
