DOCUMENTARY AS LEGACY
OUR JOURNEY
At ¡QuéMaja! Películas we understand documentary as a place to inhabit: a cinema that turns the intimate into the political and transforms the everyday into shared memory.
Founded in 2021, the production company is built on two complementary perspectives. Celia de Coca, director and cinematographer, contributes an authorial voice with international recognition, with works selected and awarded at international festivals. Raúl Pajas, executive producer, brings the strategic vision and production structure that allow each project to grow, open up to networks of collaboration, and reach new audiences.
Each film brings together collaborators and creators who share the same conviction: to make documentary cinema a space for reflection and legacy.
CELIA DE COCA
Celia de Coca works on the border between documentary cinema and photography, using the image as a means to trace cartographies of memory. Her work explores time not to capture the ephemeral, but to transform it into legacy.
With more than fifteen years of experience, she has been recognized at international festivals, in competitions such as the Sony World Photography Awards, and at key events such as PhotoEspaña. Her works have been published by publishers such as Lunwerg and created in collaboration with ministries and cultural institutions, always with a gaze capable of uniting the intimate and the collective.
Her practice inhabits the dialogue between document and creation, where the image is no longer just testimony, but a way of building memory for the future.
RAÚL PAJAS
After more than a decade in advertising agencies such as DDB, Proximity, and Zapping, where he developed solid experience in audiovisual production, he made the leap to cinema as partner and executive producer at Había Una Vez Films.
Since then, he has produced internationally screened documentaries such as A Fuego Lento (Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival – PÖFF), Ámam (Málaga Short Corner 2024), and Jabato (Madrid Film Festival – PNR). His career combines over 25 years of experience in communication and audiovisual production with a clear vocation for building strong, creative documentary narratives with international impact.
